Amidst a great feud between the twin cities of Piltover and Zaun, two sisters fight on opposing sides in a war of magical technology and conflicting beliefs. See the actors behind some of your favorite animated films and TV shows, including Ella Purnell in Arcane. Fortiche Productions filmed the music video for “Get Jinxed” for Riot in 2013. It features Jinx and the city of Piltover. Riot was so impressed with the work that they asked Fortiche to create an animated series, which took several years to complete. After the release of the first season, Riot announced that there would be a second season and that it would take less time to produce, as featured in AniMat’s Crazy Cartoon Cast: Geeked Week for Freaks (2021). Enemy is written by Dan Reynolds, Wayne Sermon, Ben McKee, Daniel Platzman, Robin Fredriksson, Mattias Larsson, Justin Tranter, J.I.D. (as Destin Route).Performed by Imagine Dragons ft. J.I.D.. Arcane tells the story of two orphaned sisters who grow up in the twin cities of Zaun and Piltover and get into trouble. The series is based on the video game League of Legends, and while it allows for direct immersion into this fictional world, it takes time and attention to present the locations and characters in a commendable and non-narrative way. The solid character development and world building make this a very entertaining experience, even if you know nothing about the game. The animation is simply exceptional. As an anime fan, I found the animation in Arcane to be superior to anything I’ve ever seen in an animated series. The attention to detail is incredible. It’s clear that no artistic talent or financial expense was spared in bringing the world of Runeterra to life. A great soundtrack, great acting, and an engaging story that doesn’t shy away from violence and more adult content. Only the first three episodes have been released so far, and I can’t wait to see what else they have in store for us!
