Benji Kaplan: Yeah

Misfit cousins reunite for a tour of Poland to honor their beloved grandmother, but old tensions resurface as their family history unravels… When Benji and David visit their grandmother’s home in Poland, the location is where Jesse Eisenberg’s real-life ancestors settled in the diaspora.. By the time he gets to the front, the train will be at the station and we’re free.David Kaplan: That’s so stupid. Tickets are probably like twelve dollars. Benji Kaplan: That’s the way it works.
This is our country
We don’t have to pay for train tickets in Poland. David Kaplan: No, it’s not, this was our country. They kicked us out because they thought we were cheap.. Featured on CBS News Sunday Morning: Episode #46.44 (2024). 12 Etudes, Op. 25, No.
I’ve always enjoyed watching Jesse Eisenberg perform
3 in F major, Written by Frederic Chopin, Performed by Zvi Erez. He usually brings a wiry nervousness and some smart, snappy dialogue to the roles he’s in. Now, he’s won the Waldo Salt Screenplay Award at the Sundance Film Festival for the recently released A REAL PAIN. Eisenberg produced, wrote and directed this "dramedy" exploring the relationship between estranged cousins David (Jesse Eisenberg) and Benji (Kieran Culkin). David is an aspiring billboard creator with a wife and child. Benji is a sensitive, very emotionally aware guy who is grieving the loss of his grandmother, who he was very close to.
Having said that, I can’t ignore Eisenberg’s performance
They go on a trip to Poland together, tagging along with a Jewish history tour group, which obviously brings up different and difficult feelings. This is a beautiful film with fully developed characters who actually grow as it goes along. It’s clear that they’re both going through something, as is everyone in this. The script is well executed with a perfect blend of emotional beats and comedy. This is actually Eisenberg’s second film that he’s written and directed, the first being WHEN YOU FINISH SAVING THE WORLD, which is now on my to-watch list. By the time I saw THE LEGACY, I knew Kieran Culkin was amazing and he’s even better in this.
I hope REAL PAIN is talked about during awards season!
In some ways, it’s harder to play an underrated role that he’s great at. The movie is about generational trauma, different kinds of pain, and the human condition. From Alien: Romulus to Road House, take a look back at some of our favorite posters from 2024.
